Distributor set wrong in 1999 jeep grand cherokee?

I changed the crankshaft in my jeep. I made the mistake of not marking where the distributor was at before taking it out. The jeep starts now but when it feels like it. How can I fix this or know the right way to put it in? Also the engine light is on with the code for the timing chain, but I think the whole problem is the fact that the distributor isn't in the right way. Any suggestions?Distributor set wrong in 1999 jeep grand cherokee?
The distributor is meshed to the cam shaft. If you have changed the crankshaft you may well have got the timing chain out by a cog or two. If you didn't remove the cam shaft or distributor then they are both aligned perfectly and the chain must be misaligned.Distributor set wrong in 1999 jeep grand cherokee?
get the repair manual and put engine on top dead center you did line up timing marks i hope them look for firing order and set distributor in so rotor aims at no1 cyl make sure you are on compression stroke
