yes a lincoln ls does have 2 timing chains as do all ford over head cam engines. either the chain could have stretched(not very likely) or a chain guide broke. this would throw your timing off on the pass side. i have seen it happen. if you have the dealer fix it, make them put it in writing that if it doesn't fix the problem you don't pay. and you want pictures of the broken part before it is removed. if they won't do that then they are lying to you.HACE A 2001 LINCOLN LS V8 LINCOLN DEALERSHIP DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST N IT READ THAT I NEED A TIMING CHAIN?
IF it (the chain) was broke your car would not run. It sounds like you just have something causing a misfire.HACE A 2001 LINCOLN LS V8 LINCOLN DEALERSHIP DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST N IT READ THAT I NEED A TIMING CHAIN?
If the timing chain were broken, the car would not run at all. The timing chain causes the valves to move at the correct time during the various %26quot;cycles%26quot; of the engine (compression, power, exhaust, etc.) so a broken timing chain would mean total lack of engine operation.

Vacuum lines -- if you open the hood and hear a hissing sound when the car is idling, you have a vacuum leak. There is also the possibility that the PCV valve is shot, which is an inexpensive part, that you can buy at an auto parts store.

Sometimes hoses can %26quot;blow%26quot; off the vacuum system leading to a leak and loss of vacuum.. This can happen if the car backfires when starting, it may create a high pressure in the system blowing a hose or two off the engine, believe it or not. Sometimes, if this happens, the engine runs very rough, and all you have to do is find the hose that is loose, push it back on the vacuum line it's supposed to be hooked to and the engine will run smoothly again.HACE A 2001 LINCOLN LS V8 LINCOLN DEALERSHIP DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST N IT READ THAT I NEED A TIMING CHAIN?

dont know what REPLACED ON PASSENGER SIDE has to do with timing chain or not but if timing chian broken car dont start. DIAGNOSTIC TEST would tell one if its out of timing maybe but they couldnt have change only one timing belt on a car so maybe it was spark plug wires they change confuse about vaccum leak and misfiring and timing chain really sounds as if they dont know what they doing or they just taking your money dont go to that dealer but to any other shop in town sounds like you just need a tune up ok first think of a shop that has been open the longest time in your town or one that has a lot of car there every day leave the dealer ship for selling car and auto shops for fixing them ask a friend who works on theirs or ask a few people who does their auto work word of mouth goes a long way stay away from dealerships they are hihest palces and dont know much in most case wil just take your moneyHACE A 2001 LINCOLN LS V8 LINCOLN DEALERSHIP DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST N IT READ THAT I NEED A TIMING CHAIN?
How many times are you going to ask this same unbelievable question. If the timing chain is broke the car won't run. And you are still trying to say it has two timing chains.

You say different answers... how many of us has to tell you if the timing chain is broke, the car won't run before you believe someone?
