How do you know if you have a 22r 2bl and 22r fi engine?

i have a 1990 toyota pickup . had a blown head so i took that off brang it to a machine shop where they would rebuild and shave it. now since i have it all apart i wanna change the timing chain belt and on one site it had a choice between these 2 engines 22r 2bl or 22r fi . how do i know wich i 22r i have .? or are the timing chain the same for both of them? How do you know if you have a 22r 2bl and 22r fi engine?
2bl means 2 barrel carburetor. fi means fuel injected so is your carbureted or fuel injected? How do you know if you have a 22r 2bl and 22r fi engine?
I would say the timing chain is the same for both. The %26quot;2bl%26quot; and %26quot;FI%26quot; simply refer to what kind of fuel system they are. 2bl is a engine that's carbeurated with 2-barrel carb, the FI is Fuel-Injected.How do you know if you have a 22r 2bl and 22r fi engine?
If you have a 2bbl carb on your intake then you have a 22r 2bbl... if you have a fuel injection unit mounted on your intake then you have fuel injection. The timing chains are the same for both. How do you know if you have a 22r 2bl and 22r fi engine?
While you have the front of the engine off and doing the timing chain. I highly recommend that you replace the housing where the timing chain goes through. Even though you get new rubbing blocks, the chain, if it is stretched any, will rub the aluminium housing. If this happens, eventually, you will get a coolant leak into the oil pan. It's not too much more money to do this. Also, while you have the front all taken apart, a water pump is only about $30. How do you know if you have a 22r 2bl and 22r fi engine?
if noyhing else your vin number will tell you what engine just call a toyota dealer and ask or it is in the repair manual. alot of toyota websites can tell you what you need to know with the vin TRD is a good one.
