How to set timing on a 1994 Chevy Lumina Z34 3.4 DOHC?

I changed the timing belt on my car. The old one was getting ate up by te top timing belt cover. I decided to change the belt before it broke. I clamped all the gears down so they wouldnt move but I think they did. It will start and run and drive, but now there is a noise that is banging, rubbing or clicking coming from the crank area. people have told me that it might be the timing chain hitting up the sides of the chain area. I did not mess around with the timing chain at all though. all of my marks on the gears and crank line up with the diagram i have, but i still have that noise. what could this be? can someone tell me how the cams are supposed to be. the rear cams up or down and the front cams up or down. HELP!!How to set timing on a 1994 Chevy Lumina Z34 3.4 DOHC?
You were lucky to be able to change the belt with out wrestling with the tensioner. I would of paint marked all those gears and idlers etc beforehand. If the chain started making the noise immediately after changing the belt, that would be strange coincidence. Perhaps a belt cover is not placed correctly.
