My 2000 dodge truck has a rattle in the engine after it warms up?

ok, im a little mechanicaly knowledgeable. but I was wondering if anybody has had simular problems. I have a 2000 dodge dakota, 6 cyl. that sometimes has a noticable rattle sound when it idles after it has warmed up. dont think its a vacum or spark plug prob. mabe weak lifter? or timing chain? just bought truck with 134000 miles but not sure its original engine. All the fluids have recently been changed, and took it on a trip 1000 miles round trip. it might have gotten a little worse, but not real noticeable. it also has like a little bit of a skip. The check eng light dosnt work, so if it has a code I dont know about it. I'll have it checked. the injecters look new, but could have a faulty one. I guess I'm saying I know how to check things to find out what is going on, but was hoping someone would know of common problems with this eng and could give advice on what to exspect first. Any and all advice is greatly apreciated! My 2000 dodge truck has a rattle in the engine after it warms up?
i own a repair shop, and i been at this for a little while,so I'm going to say this could be a lifter on getting weak on it,they will tend to leak down once they get warm, what would have helped a lot if you could have narrowed it down to the top end or bottom end of the engine, because some of those did have a problem with oil pumps going bad in them, and you could actually hear the pump on the out side of the engine and eventually they would loose all there oil pressure, that's been one of the things i have seen a lot with those,i been at this for 36 yrs,so i have repaired a few of those before, good luck with it i hope this helps. My 2000 dodge truck has a rattle in the engine after it warms up?

sounds like ignition or detinition.. meaning.. might be something burning in one of the cylenders, also could be a bent valve... thats about all it could be really..My 2000 dodge truck has a rattle in the engine after it warms up?
thats what it sounds like,a valve lifter, not pumping up very good.My 2000 dodge truck has a rattle in the engine after it warms up?
All dodge dakotas have a rattle with a v6 3.9 liter engine. It is nothing to worry about. Keep your oil changed at every 3000 miles and drive baby drive. The noise is in the timing chain but it won't hurt anything
